Another fantastic spring day, 14 degress, no wind, sunny and not a cloud in the sky! It was time for a Typ 64 drive in the beautiful weather.😘 We drove for 45 minutes and then down to the old local train station Eskilsryd. The buildings are being restored by local train entusiasts. Car runs really well and a new personal Top Speed record of 164km/h was recorded! (GPS).😎 Very stable at that speed, I am positivly surprised how it feels at high speed. Total milage since car was finished is now 1734kms. The Typ 64 is the ancestor of all rear engine Porsche 356 and 911. Porsche employee Erwin Komenda also designed the Beetle and the Porsche 356/550. Three Typ 64 was build 1939-40, one original car still exists. We have built this Typ 64 recreation during many years and now, November 2021 it is finally ready to drive.

Here are some more info and pictures from the now 8 years long built since we decided to go ahead. It is built in aluminum as the original, three of these cars was built by Reutter 1939-40 and only one of them still exists today. The three cars were intended for a race between Berlin and Rome. The race was cancelled due to WWII. Pictures shows some stages of the built, models made for testing and the wood buck.

Update: April 20, 2022 Milage: 2352kms Today I drove the the Typ 64 for a total of 252kms. Car ran well, lots of gusty winds today, you could see the lorrys moving all over the place. Trip went north and it was also time for a very nice coffee break at Bosse "Bildoktorn" Andersson, Swedish TV and Radio celebrity. I brought sponge cake and he and his lovely wife had fresh coffee and sweets. Bosse have many years experience at SFRO as a technical inspector, this is the organisation that checks and passes all privately built cars and motorcycles here in Sweden. Two hours of nice talks about everything!😘 The church in the background is located in Myresjo and was finished already in year 1150 at this location.💪 Bell tower to the right. Third recreation drive this week in the Typ 64. Nearly 4000 kilometers now in this car since finished. Very nice and mild autumn so far. Todays drive was also mainly on gravel roads, one stretch was newly sufaced and very loose on top, great fun.😎 Here are some pics from today and also a fantastic pic from the early 1940´s. Early KDF Beetles.....and look at the end of the right row...........😉 ------------------------------------------------ Tredje rekreationsresan den här veckan i Typ 64. Nästan 4000 kilometer nu i den här bilen sedan den blev klar. Mycket fin och mild höst än så länge. Dagens körning gick också främst på grusvägar, en sträcka var ny sladdad och väldigt lös på ytan, jättekul.😎 Här är några bilder från idag och även en fantastisk bild från tidigt 1940-tal.
