Typ 64 - The ancestor with many names.

VW60K10 - Porsche Typ 64 - Berlin-Rome Rekordwagen - 38/43 Otto Mathé recreation. The Typ 64 is the ancestor of all rear engine 356 and 911. Erwin Komenda also designed the Beetle and the 356/550. Three Typ 64 was build 1939-40, one original car still exists. We have built this Typ 64 recreation during many years and now, November 2021 it is finally ready to drive.

VW60K10/Porsche Typ64/Berlin - Rome wagen - 38/43 Mathé recreation Some of you have asked for more details on this Typ 64 replica built. Here are some more info and pictures from the now 8 years long built since we decided to go ahead. It is built in aluminum as the original, three of these cars was built by Reutter 1939-40 and only one of them still exists today. The three cars were intended for a race between Berlin and Rome. The race was cancelled due to WWII. Pictures shows some stages of the built, models made for testing and the wood buck.

Update: April 20, 2022 Milage: 2352kms Today I drove the the Typ 64 for a total of 252kms. Car ran well, lots of gusty winds today, you could see the lorrys moving all over the place. Trip went north and it was also time for a very nice coffee break at Bosse "Bildoktorn" Andersson, Swedish TV and Radio celebrity. I brought sponge cake and he and his lovely wife had fresh coffee and sweets. Bosse have many years experience at SFRO as a technical inspector, this is the organisation that checks and passes all privately built cars and motorcycles here in Sweden. Two hours of nice talks about everything!😘 The church in the background is located in Myresjo and was finished already in year 1150 at this location.💪 Bell tower to the right. Took the last pic when I stopped for sandwich and drink on my way back home. Greetings from Sweden.
